DBT SKILLS ARE FOR EVERYBODY

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is great because it teaches practical skills and ideas that you can use right away to feel and do better. Our training is more about understanding the steps than following strict rules. It will help you change behaviors, emotions, thoughts, and how you connect with others. This is especially helpful for dealing with issues like addiction and other behavioral health problems, giving you better ways to live a healthier life.

The primary objectives of the DBT Goes to the Movies experience are to:

Share information with the group about helpful ways to deal with problems.

Help group members figure out how to use these tips in their own lives. We give them tasks to practice these skills in their everyday situations.

Our program has three important parts of DBT:

  1. Skills Training Group: Where you learn useful skills.

  2. Skills Phone Coaching: Where you can get support when you need it.

  3. Weekly Consultation Team: The skills trainer gets help to stay effective.

Individual therapy, which is the fourth part, does two things in DBT. It boosts our motivation and helps us use the skills for our specific challenges. In the regular DBT plan, you have individual therapy once a week, as long as you're in therapy. This happens at the same time as the group skills training, like "DBT Goes to the Movies." Individual therapy also helps organize your life, home, and friends. The therapist uses the same strategies taught in the group to help you manage your own life better.

There are a number of online resources that list DBT therapists. We recommend starting your research at https://behavioraltech.org/resources/find-a-therapist/.
